Mental Health & Wellness Training Opportunities
Through ILF's partnership with Mental Health America of Indiana's Stanley W. DeKemper Training Institute, members have access to training opportunities focused on mental wellness, workplace resilience, communication skills, and supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Registration Guidance
All trainings are limited to 25 participants each.
To help ensure training opportunities are available to as many libraries as possible, we encourage each library system or branch to register one to two staff members for Mental Health First Aid training.
Participants can then share key concepts, resources, and best practices with colleagues upon completion, extending the impact of this professional development opportunity throughout their organization.
Mental Health First Aid (Virtual)
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an early-intervention training course that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges.
Like traditional physical first aid or CPR, MHFA provides the skills to offer initial support to someone experiencing a mental health challenge until professional help or a longer-term solution can be accessed.
What You'll Learn
- Recognize common signs of mental health and substance use challenges
- Respond effectively and compassionately in crisis situations
- Apply an evidence-based action plan
- Connect individuals with appropriate support and resources
